A hot-stone massage you can do at the kitchen sink. The Likya is a palm-sized mushroom of solid jade: sit it in hot water for a few minutes, dry it off and glide the warm dome over your face, neck, shoulders or anywhere that's tightened up after a day at a desk. Low-tech, no batteries, and it will outlast everything else in the bathroom.
- Heat and pressure together help ease the feeling of muscle tension and release the tightness that builds in the jaw, brow and shoulders
- Used on the face, it helps relax the muscles that hold expression lines, so skin looks smoother and less tired
- Warmth opens the skin and helps your face oil or balm spread and absorb, so you get more from the products you already own
- Grounding and calming — a five-minute evening ritual that helps you wind down before sleep
- Hand-carved from solid jade, which holds heat (or cold) far longer than steel or glass
THINGS TO KNOW
- Earth to You designed the Likya for full-body hot-stone massage: the wide dome for cheeks, neck and shoulders, the stem for working acupressure points along the brow, temples and the base of the skull.
- Available as a single stone or a set of two — two lets you work both sides of the face or neck at once, which is how a therapist would do it.
- Natural jade, so each stone's colour and veining is slightly different.
- Ships direct from Earth to You in London, so it may arrive separately from the rest of your order.
- Test the temperature on the inside of your wrist first. Don't use over broken skin, and avoid heat if you have rosacea or very reactive skin — use it cool from the fridge instead.
HOW TO USE
Warm the stone in a bowl of hot (not boiling) water for three to five minutes and pat dry. Apply a few drops of face or body oil, then move the dome in slow, firm strokes: up and out across the cheeks, along the jaw, down the sides of the neck, and in circles over the shoulders. Use the stem to press and hold on tight spots for a few seconds. Five minutes is plenty. For a de-puffing morning version, keep it in the fridge and use it the same way.
CARE
Wash with warm water and mild soap after use, dry fully and store in its pouch. Don't drop it on a hard floor — jade is tough, but it isn't unbreakable.
Why it passes the BATB filter: a real material, a technique therapists actually use, and a tool that makes the products you already own work harder. The kind of gift people say they'd never buy themselves and then use every night.
